Packaging and Branding task 1

To begun the day we categorised 30 pieces of packaging into 3 categories, Upper, middle and Bottom in terms of its quality,
What makes packaging fit into categories
Top
sustainable
Nice Feeling
Looks expensive
Durability
Net Complexity
Strong

Middle
Functional but not designed very well or the other way round
Works well for what it
Can look mass produced
Colours are nicer than the bottom category but most like to not have fooling or embossing on it

Bottom
Over crowding
Garish colours
Cheap stock
Made to have a sort life
Poor Quality images
Colour comes off
Basic type
Not sterdy or strong
Gradient colours

We began with upper
xxCd
simple interesting, interactive, informative, very nice stock used and colour choice is good, Net format is key, Appeals to a wide variety of audiences

Perfume bottle
Nicely embossed. colour use is good, textured paper used, use gold for type, Net design is good
Creates a nice themes, very feminine and appeals to a younger audience.

Pandora Bag
Good quality stock, positive embossing, Great use of colours,( black and white colour scheme) Glossy text, gives it a timeless look and it appeals primarily
to a wide range of female audiences.

Converse shoe Packaging
Very Recognisable, and is simple in its style, It has the Logo in the centre and has its original colours.
The box is a long slick box, meaning its functional for what it needs to do, its strong and sturdy. It compliments the brand and has a simple shape.

Mini Perfume Packet
It look 'classy' gold embossing gives it a classic look and its attractive in the sense that its colour scheme     represents the perfume.

Coke
Very simple in its design, its recyclable and its high recognisable, very brand orientated, simple and effective.

Foundation
Matt lid give its class and the simplicity makes it stand out, it also has foiling on the packet, lifting it into the upper category.

Middle  
Ribena
Shape and format is standard, obviously thought about the shape in order for it t fit in your hand, but the colour scheme is relevant to the product.
It brings lower market products, e,g food and drink

Bags
Lower market products bring out the higher market, better colour use

Mushrrom bags,
Branding mushrooms, makes you want to buy mushrooms, cute packaging but on a cheap stock

Bottom

Pizza Box
cheap looking, nasty colours and lots of gradients, mass its very noticeable that the product is cheap, ts tacky looking

Plastic coke packaging
Cant get into it, More for distribution, and movability rather than practicality,

Chocolate fingers
looks very recognisable but looks a bit tacky and shows the price on the pack.
